Abstract
The article is devoted to studying Sophocles tragedies, such as «Oedipus the King», «Oedipus at Colonus» and «Antigone» in the context of extremely general structures: the other, the self , space, time, destiny, fate. The event line of the tragedies is analyzed by including it in the principle of reality and as a result different sense sequences are created and expressed in certain structures of mental activity, particularly trough analysis and synthesis. Sophocles tragedies create a relevant place in the space of culture, which can be filled with different content.The ideas of Sophocles were developed in the plays of William Shakespeare, Jean-Paul Sartre and many other authors.
