Abstract
Plantaris muscle is one of the three superficial muscles of the back of the leg. It is situated between the soleus, the gastrocnemius. Plantaris muscle is a flexor muscle. It is vestigial in human beings. The muscle takes origin from lower part of lateral supracondylar line of femur and the oblique popliteal ligament. (1) It is inserted into the tendocalcaneus. Plantaris muscle helps in the plantar flexion of foot, along with the other flexor muscles.Plantaris muscle is supplied by tibial nerve s1,s2.
