Abstract

The technique and results of modeling the process of electro contact welding of a steel tape onto the surface of a part to determine the heat-affected zone are considered. The process was modeled using the Flow Vision software, and a three-dimension model of the process of restoring a part by electro contact welding of a steel tape and the visualization of the model calculation results are shown. The process of electro contact welding of a steel tape is accompanied by structural heterogeneity of the welded layer, due to the cyclic effect of heat on the surface of the product, “cellular” areas with different microstructures are formed: martensitic in the welding points, ferriticpearlitic between the points, which negatively affects the endurance of the restored parts. An experimental verification of the adequacy of the model for determining the heat-affected zone during electrical contact welding has been carried out. In all investigated modes of electric-contact welding, the heat-affected zone depth during electrical contact welding of a steel tape does not exceed 1 mm, therefore, to obtain a homogeneous structure in the heat-affected zone after electro contact welding of a steel tape, it is necessary to perform thermo mechanical or chemical heat treatment or surface hardening
