FUNCTIONING OF A CRAFT SCHOOL AT THE KAMYANETS ORTHODOX FRATERNITY EVENTS OF THE PODILLYA PROVINCE IN THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract

The fall of the orthodox fraternities was charged with consumihg the authority of the Orthodox church. Realization in the life of the Russian politics in the orthodox fraternities are one of the tasks of the activity determined by the educational direction. The article analizes the specifics of organization and training in a craft school founded by a orthodox fraternity in the city of Kamyanets on the Podillya province. It was found out that in school members of the fraternity adopted in the vast majority of children from poor families and orphans children who lived in asylum and were trained at the expense of fraternity and philanthropists. In addition, the school was attended by children who came to study from the city. The main aspects and peculiarities of the system of study at the school, which consisted of teaching subjects in accordance with the curriculum of elementary schools, were revealed. In extra time, according to the distribution, one group of boys studied carpentry, the other – , and gils handicrafts. Having received such knowledge, poor children could secure themselves in the future. Each year, the number of people wishing to receive initial knowledge increased in this school grew, as well as to master a certain craft. Subsequently, school retention required significant material costs and the fraternity by their own efforts was not to hold a large number of pupils. As a resalt, members of the fraternity constantly applied to support the school for officials and philanthropists from different cities and villages of the Podolsk province. Dispite this, over the years, members of the fraternity managed to materially provide and worry about the pupils of this institution.
