Abstract
This work is devoted to research of typology and development of lakes (on the example of inland water bodies of Karelia and the Kola Peninsula). For that purpose, the parasites of fishes are used as ecological criteria. The analysis is carried out with application of the G.V. Nikolsky method of faunal complex (1947). It is shown that the eutrophication and dystrophication are the main natural processes defining the development and typology of lakes. They run concurrently and directionally, but they are developed in different lakes not identically. Parasites of fishes serve as reliable ecological indicators of these processes.
