Abstract
INTRODUCTION Central pontine myelinosis is a neurological disorder that frequently occurs after too rapid medical correction of hyponatremia .This demyelination occurs without inflammation in base of pons with sparing of axons neurons typically presents as quadriplegia pseudobulbar palsy. The rapid rise in sodium concentrations is accompanied by movement of small molecules water out of brain cells ,leading to destruction of myelin a substance that surrounds protects nerve fibres Destruction of myelin sheath that coats nerve cells prevents signals from being properly conducted within nerve. This decreases nerves ability to communicate with other cells. Most common cause of Central pontine myelinosis is a rapid drastic change in sodium levels in the body. Most commonly this occurs when someone is being treated for low levels of Na levels rise too fast
