Abstract
The subject of the protection of the rights of the child by the European Court of Human Rights in the domestic legal science is little studied. In most cases, the scientific works of legal scholars and practitioners in the spectrum of analysis of the practice of the European Court are devoted to the study of the protection of individual subjective human rights in general. However, the number of appeals to this international judicial institution with the aim of protecting the rights of Ukrainian children is growing every year. The subject of the research is international and European legislation in the field of the protection of the rights of the child, the practice of its application by the European Court of Human Rights, scientific positions on the protection of the rights of the child. The object of the research is the public relations arising in the process of the protection of the rights of the child by the European Court of Human Rights. The purpose of the study is to review and unify the practice of the European Court of Human Rights in the field of the protection of the rights of the child. The objectives of the study will contribute to the solution of the following tasks: to clarify the significance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in establishing and protecting the rights of the child; consider the characteristics of the European Court of Human Rights; identify the problematic aspects of the appeal of citizens of Ukraine to the European Court in order to protect the rights of the child to identify the peculiarities of the consideration by the European Court of appeals for the protection of individual family rights of the child; unify the practice of the European Court of Human Rights in the protection of the rights of the child.
