Abstract

This study aims to identify the communication patterns that occur in the Village Advisory Board (Babinsa) of the Army in the task of fostering farmers in the KORAMIL region of City 1607 / -01 Sumbawa. Babinsa is one of the branches in the Indonesian Armed Forces which has the duty and responsibility in the territorial field. In this study, researchers conducted in-depth interviews with three informants selected based on strategic positions in the territorial field. The researcher also conducted observations and documentation to support the results of the interview. From the study it was found that Food Self-Sufficiency is part of National Resilience which can affect the stability and security of the country. This is part of the main tasks of the Army. In the internal military sphere, communication used is instructive. The Babinsa must obey and carry out orders that come from the command center. But in the implementation of the Food Self-Sufficiency Program, Babinsa used persuasive communication to farmers. Researchers also found a tendency for local wisdom values ​​‘Kerik Salamat' with instruments ‘mutually beme' by Babinsa to farmers. This became an effective strategy so that farmers were able to work with Babinsa who had military character. So that the Food Self-Sufficiency Program in the KORAMIL region 1607 / -01 Sumbawa yielded optimal results for the main commodities, namely rice, corn and soybeans.
