Abstract
The possibility of modification of the methods of compression of realistic images on the basis of wavelet transforms with contour selection at each stage of wavelet decomposition is considered, in order to analyze qualitative and quantitative characteristics. The comparative characteristics of the main indicators of the proposed method with modern algorithms for processing realistic images are presented. This method can be used when processing, storing and finding realistic images in practice.
