Abstract
In pregnancy, the occurrence of Lewis phenotype Le (a-b-) with the development of Lewis antibodies is most often a transient phenomenon. The Lewis antibodies are usually clinically insignificant when they are IgM in nature and not reactive at 370C, however they can sometimes be of IgG type and reactive at 370C in Coombs phase and cause HTR and rarely HDFN. We report a case of Lewis (a-b-) phenotype in a pregnant female with anti-Le b antibody which could be a transient phenomenon. The antibody identified in our case was IgG in nature and reactive at 370C in Coombs phase.
