Abstract

Engineering generally has reformed the dynamics of life and it has brought immense changes to the conduct of activities globally. Apart from the enormous benefit engineering has for human sustenance, it is also the core for the existence and development of the society. Taking a cue from history, engineering has rehabilitated the crescendos of life and culture. Civilization and politics is ingrained in how effectively a society embraces engineering. This fact is proven by existing works that attested to the role of technological innovation brought about by engineering education in shaping wealth creation and economic growth which thereafter influences politics. The study considered the political dimension of engineering education in Africa and it was revealed that Sub Saharan Africa lacks home grown capabilities in engineering, as well as high rate of unemployment among graduates of engineering which typifies that, there is a major problem that must be tackled. The study concluded that politics especially in Africa influences engineering education and therefore recommends that engineering education actors must provide leadership in all political processes and wealth creation
