Abstract

In the modern world, of the most significant social value is the mental health of the population. The need of the health care system for the psychiatric service is rather high due to the high rate of mental illnesses, which, as a rule, acquire chronic forms. As a result, one can suggest a high role of nursing staff in the provision of therapeutic and preventive measures. The quality of the provision of medical services by the psychiatric service is significantly influenced by the totality of educational technologies and forms of organization of educational activities in the structure of postgraduate training of nursing staff. The system of postgraduate education of nurses improves general and professional competencies, develops individual, personal and psychological characteristics necessary for performing professional tasks, for improvement of existing skills with use of targeted educational principles and innovative technologies of educational and cognitive acti-vity. Today, training technologies in the educational process contribute to the development of creative and analytical abilities of nursing staff in their work with psychiatric patients, taking into account the current state of science and needs of the society. When planning educational acti-vities, one should take into account age-related characteristics and experience of learners in order to achieve the goals of the educational process. Improvement of general and professional competencies of mid-level health care professionals, as a result of the implementation of additional professional programs, contributes to the development of innovative thinking, making non-standard decisions in the provision of medical care to mentally ill patients, as well as rapid adaptation to changing conditions in their professional activities. Improving competencies in the system of postgraduate education contributes to the self-realization of a nurse in the profession and society.
