Abstract

Abaca fiber was used as an added ingredient in the AC–WC asphalt emulsion mixture with the aim of modifying the mixture for better performance and for reducing cracks. The test methods used in this study were laboratory experiments consisting of stability and Indirect Tensile Strength test (ITS). Abaca fiber content used in the mixtures was 0.00%, 0.10%, 0.15%, 0.20%, 0.25%, and 0.30% by weight of mixture, and with length of 2.50 cm. Effective asphalt emulsion content were used at 5.5% bitumen for all types of asphalt mixtures. It was found that asphalt emulsion mixture with higher Marshall stability and ITS values can be produced through the integration of Abaca fiber
