A RARE CASE REPORT OF FOLLICULAR DENDRITIC CELL SARCOMA- TONSIL

Abstract

AbstractIntroduction Follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) are non-phagocytic, non-lymphoid cells of immune system, which are necessary for antigen presentation and regulation of the reactions in the germinal centers of lymph node. Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is unusual and those with an extranodal origin in the head and neck region are extremely rare.Method Case reportCase study A 55 year old female presented with CO dysphagia for past 2 years and swelling in the left side of neck for past 2 months. She was a known case of carcinoma tonsil treated with excision biopsy and asked for concurrent chemo radiation in KIDWAI hospital IN 2013. Histopathology report was follicular dendritic cell sarcoma. But patient defaulted for treatment. Now patient presented with dysphagia for 2 years- more for solid foods, ho swelling in the left side of neck for past 2 months, with LOW LOA, on examination halitosis , VDL scopy shows smooth bulge seen in left lateral wall of pharynx Both vocal cords mobile and normal, MRI Neck revealed Recurrent mass in the left tonsillar fossa extending into the left para pharyngeal space and along the left postero lateral pharyngeal wall. Conclusion Case is diagnosed as Metastatic follicular dendritic cell carcinoma. Palliative radiation and chemotherapy with liposomal doxorubicin was given. She is on regular follow up till date. This case is presented for its rarity.
