Abstract

INTRODUCTION - Primitive neuroectodermal tumours(PNET) are one of the most common CNS tumors in children and adolescents. Their incidence declines drastically in adults particularly after 25 years of age. This is a rare case report of PNET in adult female. A 25 Yr old female presented with complaints of diplopia 20 days duration . MRI brain showed 5cms extra axial isointense FLAIR lesion in left temporal lobe suggestive of invasive meningioma. Patient underwent partial excision of tumor. Histopathological examination revealed primitive neuroectodermal tumor WHO Grade 4. Post op MRI brain and spine taken. Patient is planned for Craniospinal Irradiation followed by chemotherpy .CONCLUSION- Though rare in adults this embryonal tumors are quite aggressive. Despite multimodal treatment approaches involving surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, outcome is worse especially in adult PNETs
