This article is the beginning of a series of articles by the author on the philosophical significance of religion in the modern world. It analyzes such components of the philosophy of religion as a social institution, religious consciousness, religious psychology. The main problems associated with the religious factor are identi- fied: religious minorities, religious intolerance, religious extremism. In the course of factorial and spectral analy- sis, the relationship between religious phenomena, the genesis of problems in interreligious relations, and ways to solve them are presented
