Abstract

Background. The basis of organizational technologies that ensure the stabilization of mortality is highly relevant. Their development in the Brest region was based on a retrospective analysis of the medical and demographic situation for the period 2006-2013, which was the purpose of this article. Material and methods. Based on the offcial statistical data "Mortality in the Republic of Belarus" and summary development tables "Distribution of deaths by gender, age groups and causes of death in the Brest region and districts for 2006, 2011" of the Statistics Department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, the dynamics for the years 2006 - 2011 of the level and structure of mortality from cardiovascular diseases (CVD) due to causes, in comparison with data for the Republic and other regions, were studied. The trends of mortality from CVD were compared with other categories of causes of death. The percentage of autopsies of deaths diagnosed with chronic ischemic heart disease (CIHD) and other nosologies in the structure of mortality from CVD, was calculated. The forecast for the development of the demographic situation in 2012-2013 was determined (using the approximation coeffcient R2, calculated on the basis of the modifed Cheddock formula) and compared with the actual values of the indicators. Results. It was found that there is a tendency to reduce the mortality from CVD in the general population and an increase in mortality in working age, the main cause is CIHD. With an increase in mortality due to "old age" (ICD- 10 – R54), the value of the CVD mortality rate decreases, which, together with the identifed shortcomings in the choice of encoding of this cause in medical death certifcates and data on the forecast and actual development of the demographic situation, confrms the need to develop a unifed approach to the interpretation of causes of death.
