Abstract
In third generation wireless sensor network design, the requirements are not fully known to the designer during the design and the development stage. This requires a reconfigurable hardware to be used in the wireless sensor node. In order to reconfigure the hardware at the wireless sensor node human intervention is needed which is not possible in all types of wireless sensor network applications. So in this paper a remote reconfigurable wireless sensor node architecture which provides remote hardware modifications and software reprogramming facility is proposed. The proposed architecture provides the over-the-air remote modification facilities even after the deployment of the wireless sensor node on the sensing field. FPGA is used in the wireless sensor node in order to increase the processing capabilities of the system to meet the target applications. Soft core processor architecture for remote reconfigurable wireless sensor node along with remote reconfiguration procedure is explained in this paper.
