EXPERIMENTAL TESTS ON GULLY TOPS AND MANHOLE TOPS DEVICES ACCORDING TO EN124 STANDARD

Abstract
A great number of crowning and closing devices tests, has been performed for years. The results were analysed both from the standpoint of the standard EN124 and from the standpoint of the mechanical behaviour and devices performance. In the paper, the experiments description, the results and the statistical analysis is reported.
The comparison between stress, displacement and failure of several class of devices, showed that the occurrence of critical behaviour is very uncommon and generally, the material and design of equipment fulfils high standards. However, some oversizing from the stress bearing capacity point of view can be seen.
