Abstract
The given article devoted to the study of the derivational potential of word formation which takes nowadays universal character considering the range of its studying at all levels of language system. The derivative potential is examined at broad and narrow perspectives. Cognitive science has extrapolated the notion of derivative potential at conceptual level.
