Abstract

Aim. To study the history, stages of the disease, the cause, clinical picture, objective data, laboratory data and radiological data in children with ASIO. To determine the clinical stages of ASIO in the preoperative stage. Material and Methods. A retrospective analysis of data of 60 children with ASIO has been conducted. Anamnesis, clinical symptoms, data of objective examination, as well as biochemical and morphological data of children with ASIO were studied. A statistical analysis of the obtained data has been conducted using Student t-test, the level of reliability of used parameters in each group was determined. In the work, ultrasound and X-ray methods were used. Results. Three clinical stages of acute strangulation intestinal obstruction in children were detected: I – compensated, II – subcompensated, III – decompensated. Stages of ASIO in children were determined on the basis of the timing of the disease, causes, clinical symptoms, data of objective examination, of the degree of intoxication, of X-ray examination. Conclusion. The leading criteria for assessing the clinical stages of ASIO in children (compensated, subcompensated, decompensated) are the time passed after the onset of the disease, the data of objective examination and the degree of endotoxicosis, as well as the spread of the process in the abdominal cavity. Assessment of the degree of endotoxicosis by the levels of MSM and AST permits a more precise determination of a stage of acute strangulation intestinal obstruction. Necrosis of strangulated bowel and peritonitis in children with ASIO occurred in the decompensated stage.
