Prevalence of Neurological Findings in Children with Cerebral Palsy

Abstract
Abstract: Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a gathering of irreversible sicknesses of the improvement of development and stance that happens because of restrictions in useful exercises and are ascribed to non-progressive disorder which happen in an infant or fetal brain. CP is a chronic disorder distinguished worldwide in children. Objective: To find out the prevalence of neurological findings in children with cerebral palsy. Methods: Data was collected from children suffering from cerebral palsy of different registered hospitals of Lahore. A sample of 104 patients were selected from registered hospitals of Lahore. Children with all types of CP aged between 3-12 years were included in the study.A Modified questionnaire was used to collect data on neurological findings physical complications, sociodemographic data and co-morbidities. Descriptive studies were used to analyse the data. Results: The mean age was 7.18(SD 2.429), most of the children were male(53.8%). Among the sample, the most percentage was of spastic quadriplegic children among which a very low percentage of children who go to school. Spastic CP having an incomplete elementary school, followed by athetosis i.e 4.81%. Other neurological findings indicate that almost 30% children were having epilepsy, 32.7% complained of incontinence and 80% were having speech difficulties. Conclusions: This study concluded that CP has found the chronic disorde r. The study a lso highlight ed the neurologically clinical subtypes and other related physical complications in children with CP. It has been revealed by the results of this study the prevalence of CP by its characterization like neurological findings and associated conditions in children.
