Abstract
Wind energy is included in renewable energy that can be converted into electricity through the use of wind turbines. The savonius wind turbine has a good self-starting capability and starting torque which makes it only needs low-speed wind to turn the rotor. This study aimed to analyze the variation in the number of blades on the savonius windturbine type L 90° performance. The method used in this research was an experimental method by varying the number of blades, namely 2 blades, 3 blades and 4 blades where the wind speed set at 3 m/s, 4 m/s, 5 m/s, 6 m/s and 7 m/s. The results showed that the performance of the savonius type L 90° wind turbine produced good performance at 3 blades with a wind speed of 7 m / s and a rotation of 286 rpm with a BHP value of 2.60 Watt.
