Abstract
The growing energy demand of the world and limited supply has made solar energy storage as emerging topic. The radiant energy from the sun in the form of heat and light which is harnessed using different new technologies is the solar energy. Storage of this energy is also important because of its intermittent and variable nature. Energy generated during the off peak hours is required to be stored to meet the peak hours demand. Keeping this in view, in this paper we will utilize phase change material (PCM) as energy storage technique. The main requirement forthermal energy storage is having good large energy storage density. A comparision between low-temperature PCM and high-temperature PCM has also been made. Overall PCM is obtained as useful alternative for storing solar energy.
