Abstract
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) impressively add to the industrial production of an economy. In the period of LPG liberalization, privatization and globalization, and competitive environment, presently Indian SMEs are focusing on productivity and performance enhancement. With its demonstrated success in large enterprises, lean is considered as productive for SMEs too. The rationale behind this technical paper is to discover the adaptation of lean manufacturing and evaluate its current state of practice in Indian SMEs. An assessment tool is utilized to assess genuine fabricating practice related to the most areas of Inventory, Supplier, Process & Technology, Maintenance, Management, and Plant layout & handling
