THE BASIC BUILDING ELEMENTS IN THE NARRATIVE TEXTS OF MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract
In the study, it was aimed to determine to what extent the middle school students included the basic building elements in the narrative texts written. However, the items included were evaluated according to the grades level. Survey model was used in the research. The sample of the study consists of 95 middle school students from different grade levels. Uncontrolled writing practice was used to determine the level of students' use of narrative text elements. The data related to the basic building elements were collected using the Narrative Elements Assessment Scale. As a result of the research, it was determined that middle school students place basic building elements at a simple level while writing narrative texts. In addition, students include the most problem / solution elements while writing narrative texts. In addition to this, it is also reached that the grade level has an effect on space, time, initiating event, initiative and result / solution elements.
