Abstract
The recognition of the tasks accomplished by women in the domestic sphere is not reflected in the Indian growth figures. The article at hand tries to understand the value of unpaid domestic responsibilities accomplished by women and their contribution to the household. It discusses pertinent issues related to the invisibility of unpaid household work and nonrecognition of the same by the system of national accounts based on an empirical study in the state of Odisha in India. Further, an attempt has been made to comprehend different dimensions of knowledge, skills and attitude required to accomplish the unpaid household work accomplished by women, to recommend possible values for the purpose of measurement.
