Abstract
The paper presents the calculation of ship resistance, sinkage and trim in calm water by solving unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stockes (RANS) equation with different turbulence models to investigate the influence of turbulence model to the level of accuracy of the result and computational time. Volume of fluid (VOF) is applied for simulation of free surface flow around the ship. The simulation is performed by using commercial solver Star- CCM+. The obtained results show that the SST k- model should be used in practical calculation due to short computational time and fast convergence while still maintains high level of accuracy.
