Abstract
Nimonic-90 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt base alloy reinforced with the addition of titanium and aluminum. It has been developed as an age-hardening creep-resistant alloy for service at temperatures of up to 920 ° C (1688 ° F) that is specifically used in the aerospace industry for jet engines, valves, blades, etc. due to its high strength at high temperature, fatigue and corrosion resistance. However Nimonic-90 is difficult to machine with conventional machining processes owing to its high hardness value. Hence it is important to investigate the characteristics of electric discharge machining of Nimonic 90. The present work investigates the individual effect of process parameters such as peak current and pulse on time (Ton) on performance characteristics namely metal removal rate (MRR), tool wear rate (TWR) and surface roughness (SR).Experiments are conducted with Nimonic 90 work piece material and electrolyte copper as electrode
