Abstract

In Ukrainian economic policy exacerbated the debate over the level of support for the banking sector of the real economy. It was the reduction of the specific weight of the loans in GDP that was one of the main claims to the head of the NBU, who resigned prematurely in 2020. NBU since 2015, by exploiting the latest requirements of the Basel Committee, it has significantly increased the regulatory requirements as creditors to assess the quality of borrowers. The NBU requires full disclosure of the information about the final beneficiaries and the associated management with the breakage of the returned loans in previous periods. The Academy of Financial Management has thoroughly analyzed the issues of banking and real sector interaction in its researches during the last five years. The current research shows that banks with the state's participation are the flagship of credit activity in the leading sectors of the economy, but they in their portfolios have the largest cases of loans that are not operated by borrowers. Problems with negatively classified assets require an individual approach to resolve. The article shows dynamics of volume of crediting in the period 2013 – 2020 years in the context of industry crediting. The article provides proposals for improving the legislative base of banking business for 2020 year.
