Abstract
In this review paper, the mechanical behavior and methods to produce the aluminium metal matrix composites (MMC) with attained properties through the dispersion of silicon carbide in the matrix are evaluated. This Aluminium silicon carbide MMC is used in various places such as automobiles, aircrafts and aerospace areas for its unique properties such as better mechanical properties, low density and good corrosion properties, in this composite the chosen matrix are Aluminium (99.66% C. P) and Silicon carbide(SiC) and reinforcement materials respectively. To make the dispersion of reinforcement uniformly in all the area STIR casting method was selected as more wide and promising technique for the making of metal matrix composites.(1,2)
