Abstract
The widespread occurrence of total or partial loss of the tooth crown due to carious process, non-carious lesions and traumatic dental injuries has recently increased among the Ukrainian population. The solution of the problem of orthopedic treatment of complete absence of the crown of the tooth using pin constructions is suggested in a sufficiently large number of publications in domestic and foreign literature and is a topical issue in the modern dental community. The purpose of the study was to carry out a comparative analysis of using auxiliary materials, namely wax and ashless plastics of domestic and foreign manufacture while making inlay in the clinic of orthopedic dentistry. Material and methods. For comparative analysis, we used two groups of auxiliary modeling material: waxes “Lavax” of “STOMA” (Ukraine), “Сerin” of “Spofa Dental” (Czech Republic), “Txowax” of “Schuler Dental” (Germany); and ashless plastic material from “Modeplast”, “STOMA” (Ukraine) and “Pi-Ku-Plast” from “Bredent” (Germany). During 5 months, 96 patients were examined and treated. Various types of un-removable designs with inlay were used in the amount of 127 constructions, modeled directly by using ashless plastic «Modeplast» in the number of 34 constructions, and “Pi-Ku-Plast” in the amount of 32 constructions. There were also 21 constructions of “Lavax” modeling wax, 20 constructions of “Cerin”, and 20 constructions of “Txowax”. Results and discussion. The obtained results showed that the proposed designs met all clinical requirements, they were a reliable support for solid and metal ceramic crowns and bridges. During all stages of our investigations, a comparative analysis of auxiliary material was conducted. We listed all norms and requirements to which the studied material should correspond. We should mention that the quality of the work done on the repairing of defects in hard tissues by inlays made using the ashless plastics “Pi-Ku-Plast” and “Modеplast”, is much higher than the auxiliary wax using the direct method, but the accuracy of the fitting of the finished inlay is higher in “Modеplast”. The main advantages of using “Modeplast” ashless plastics over waxes in the direct method of making cube inserts are the following: the convenience and simplicity of the modeling, the possibility of grinding and polishing plastic reproduction, the possibility of creating a cavity recess, the minimum deformation potential at the stages of modeling and transportation. Conclusion. We carried out a comparative analysis of using the auxiliary material at individual stages of orthopedic treatment, which proved that “Modeplast” ashless plastic was not worse in its properties to foreign analogues and can be accepted for widespread use in daily practice in the clinic of prosthetic dentistry.
