Abstract
In this article, we conduct a comparative analysis of the understanding of murder in the traditions of the legal custom of Ancient Rus, reflected in the Russian Pravda, and in the norms of modern criminal and criminal procedural legislation of the Russian Federation, including the types of murder of two historical eras, and the foundations laid by the Russian Truth, which served judicial system of the Russian Federation
