Abstract
The paper presents the orientation of developing Vietnamese cultural tourism on two platforms: time orientation and technology 4.0. Accordingly, the study is based on the theory of time orientation to explain the trend of travel service behavior and the ability to adapt to 4.0 technology of groups of tourists with past, present, and future orientation. By using secondary data collection and analysis, the research findings have found that past-oriented customers are mostly from nostalgic Asian countries, interested in learning about culture but do not care about technology. Meanwhile, present-oriented customers from Latin American countries like to enjoy package travel services, and future-orientation customers from European countries often seek benefits in the future by planning for the present investment. In particular, both of these orientation groups are well adapted to technology. With that discovery, the research opens up a new perspective in considering customers from a time-oriented perspective. It proposes to create a simulation of traditional values through virtual reality technology to develop tourism. Vietnamese culture in a long and sustainable way
