SOFTWARE PROFESSIONALS’ PERCEPTION ON USEFULNESS OF POTENTIAL APPRAISAL

Abstract
In the present study an attempt has been made to understand the perception of software professionals on usefulness of potential appraisal in relation to career growth. For the purpose of study convenient sampling method has been adopted and a sample of 522 software professionals was taken. Mann-Whitney U test and KruskalWallis test have been adopted in the study. Findings of the study shows that software professionals have a strong opinion that potential appraisal is useful in succession planning, promotion, transfer, deputation, international assignments, additional
assignment and career planning. Study highlights influence of gender and designation on the perception of professionals for usefulness of potential appraisal.
