EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE’S INFLUENCE ON SELF- ACTUALIZATION– A STUDY AMONG ACADEMIC LEADERS OF TAMIL NADU UNIVERSITIES

Abstract
Background: In recent decades the concept of Emotional Intelligence and selfactualization is becoming one among the most discussed topics of the researchers and as well as employers. In today's scenario the expectations of employee is increasing like anything, satisfying and motivating them is becoming challenge to the employers. This makes them to look for some other things by which they may motivate their wards, in this view the concept of Emotional Intelligence and Self–Actualization is gaining importance. Methods: As a model the researcher attempted to study the relationship and influence of every Emotional Intelligence factor on the self-actualization of academic leaders of Tamil Nadu universities. For this purpose the researcher used descriptive research design and collected 217 samples using purposive stratified random sampling technique. Findings: Form the result analysis the researcher find all factors of Emotional Intelligence are not having equal influence on self-actualization and also found that the self – awareness and social skills are the dominating factors of Emotional Intelligence has significant influence on the Self- Actualization of academic leaders of Tamil Nadu Universities. Conclusions: Motivating the Academic Leaders towards self-actualization, will enhance their level and indirectly it supports to enhance the level of students community. So by giving training on Emotional Intelligence especially on selfawareness and social skills the intention of Academic Leaders for becoming selfactualized can be increased
