ENHANCING PERFORMANCE OF VIII GRADE LEARNERS USING CONSTRUCTIVIST ‘5E’ MODEL IN SOCIAL SCIENCE AT ELEMENTARY EDUCATION OF ASSAM

Abstract
Constructivist approach emerged as a learner-participatory approach of learning. Literature of education described it as ‘grand theory' that included learning, teaching, education, cognition, personal knowledge and scientific knowledge as its scope (Mathews, 2002). This grand theory of learning was given importance in the National Curriculum Framework-2005 by National Council of Educational Research and Training of India. The study aimed to investigate the effect of constructivist 5E model in enhancement of learner's performance at grade VIII of Assam. The study was conducted in 60 elementary schools from two selected district of Assam. Social Science subject was selected for the transaction of knowledge. Quasi-experimental design of experimental research was used for the present study for obtaining the performance of Social Science.
