CPRO: CHATTERBOT FOR TEACHING C PROGRAMMING

An instructional chatbots can be used in learning or studying a new programming language, answering to program-ming questions in a specific syntax, and visualizing the output from a program. This paper proposes a chatterbot, an expert system that is able to converse in natural language, focusing on assisting C programing language beginners on how to code with a proper syntax such as the syntax to initialize an array, loop, structure, and variables. The chatterbot, named Cpro, was developed and evaluated via a survey questionnaire and the findings showed that majority of the respondents provided positive feedback on the usefullness and usability of Cpro. It is hoped that Cpro is able to assist novice programmers to learn C programming in a conversational manner, similar to personal tutoring.
