Necrology as a component of the biobiblographic resource “Ukrainian National Biographical Archive”

Abstract
The article traces the process of the emergence and development of an obituary in the world and in Ukraine. The analysis of the texts of obituaries published in different chronological periods and in various publications was carried out in order to identify the degree of their information content and the advisability of using biographical information as sources, in particular, information about the extreme date of human life. In the process of forming the bio-bibliographic information resource “Ukrainian National Biographical Archive” (UNBA), a significant part was included only in the list of persons included from various sources with the date of birth. The obituary is considered from the perspective of a key information source of biographical information about a person during the formation of the UNBA electronic bio-bibliographic resource, in particular, the aspect of using an obituary to establish the person's extreme date of life has been investigated. The technology of processing obituaries generated by Wikipedia (Ukrainian segment) “Lists of the dead...” and systematic monitoring of revealing obituaries of deceased involved in the history and culture of Ukraine on the Internet is presented with the aim of entering data into the corresponding fields of the working databases of the Institute of Biographical Research for their further lighting inthe bio-bibliographic resource UNBA. It is concluded that obituaries contain useful biographical material for researchers on various aspects of human everyday life. Also include information on the date of death. These data can be used to identify or clarify the extremedates of a person's life in the UNBA information resource, and can also be used as sources for further biographical research.
