Abstract
Abu Hâtim Ahmed b. Hamdan al-Razi (d. 322 / 933-34) is considered one of the Arabic linguists. He lived at a time when different tendencies emerged in the field of language after the grammar rules were determined and restored. The most important issue that distinguishes Abu Hâtim, which forms the basis of the study, from other classical Arabic linguists is his book called Kitâbu'z-Zîne. In analyzing the words in this work, he also considered their development in the historical flow. The author generally evaluated and interpreted the Islamic words in the semantic aspect. This study examines the historical development of the words in his work and revealed the importance of Abu Hâtim in Arabic semantics. According to the findings, although semantics is a new field in language studies, the foundations of Arab semantics are considered to be the basis of Islamic literature.
