Abstract
Entrepreneurship plays an important role in the economic development of any country. Today, most of the developing countries are faced with the massive challenge of high level of unemployment among the youth mostly due to lack of work experience, low skills base and education. Though most people have an educational qualification which is enough for them to be hired by someone, they are unemployable because they lack the necessary skills that are needed to adapt to the changing market demands. The Govt of India has taken a number of steps in this regard like the establishment of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for enhancing the skills of unemployed youth, introduction of entrepreneurship in most of the universities as part of the curricula, providing loans at concessional rates of interest to budding entrepreneurs etc. But despite all this, the level of entrepreneurship has still a long way to go. Even though the younger generation views entrepreneurship as a lucrative career option they are either reluctant to take the amount of risk it requires or they are discouraged by the elders who want their children to land a secure job without having to take any risks. This paper attempts to study the attitude of college students towards entrepreneurship and the hurdles they face while taking up entrepreneurship as a career. For the purpose of conducting the study, both primary and secondary data has been used. The data has been collected from the college students of Nagaon town aged between 15 to 25 years with the help of a structured schedule
