Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and their various applications become more remarkable recently. Due to the energy resource impediments, the energy efficiency is an effective factor in such networks. Therefore, the researches have been directed to improve and extend network lifetime. In this paper, the proposed approach intends to increase the lifetime of the sensors in-network by enhancing load distribution. Three different approaches, firefly algorithm, random and control deployment are used for distributing sensor nodes in a region. Power Energy Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (PEGASIS) protocol is the chain-based routing technique that used with salp swarm algorithm (SSA) to choose the typical chain. The proposed combination of the clustering protocol with SSA is used to decrease data redundancy, the distance of neighbor nodes and transmission delay associated with long links. Simulation results show the proposed approach's perfection in state of remaining energy along with significant enhancement in relating to network lifespan, and an effective delay reduction in a comparison with the original PEGASIS protocol.
