Abstract

Generation of electrical energy from a solar generator (SG) is essential to enhance the energy security opportunities for a developing nation. Bulk solar power generation can be utilized through the existing grid connection facilities effectively. However, for grid-interactive solar systems (GISS), utilization of total energy generation becomes a challenge. Unknowingly, due to improper scheduling of loads, a part of total energy generated by SG is unutilized; instead, the consumers are further depending on the grid power because of which the purpose of installing SG is not being served fully. In this paper as a contribution, three scheduling methodologies namely LS, DRTS and TLS are proposed to minimize the dependency of the loads on the grid and utilize the electricity generated by SG effectively. The performance assessment indices terms are defined and introduced to measure the performance of the GISS with proposed load scheduling methodologies. The projected load scheduling techniques are validated by applying to a real-time scenario considering two possible cases and the obtained results confirmed that these techniques pave a path towards effective utilization of generated electricity from SG. These methodologies could become a reference guide to the practicing engineers for effectively planning load schedules for a grid-interactive solar system.
