Abstract
Aim: Chemical substances have been used in many fields from past to present. Some of these chemicals are less dangerous and some are very dangerous. Protecting employee health is possible with OHS studies. In this research, it was aimed to evaluate the exposure risk of chemicals used in a university laboratories. Material and Methods: Hazardous chemical substances used in the laboratories of a university have been determined. Chemical exposure test was carried out during laboratory studies. The results obtained were evaluated according to the risk analysis according to the ILO's ICCT (International Chemical Control Tookit) method. Results: It was determined that 320 chemicals were used in the laboratory where the study was conducted. Among these, measurements were made for 37 frequently used hazardous chemicals. Test results of these chemicals were below the limit values. However, for some chemicals, results were found close to the limit value. Discussion and Conclusion: With the OHS measures previously taken in the laboratory, exposure measurement values were provided to be below the limit. It is necessary to ensure the continuity of these measures in order to protect the health of the employees in laboratories. In addition, additional measures to be taken are presented as recommendations.
