Abstract

Latin is actively involved in many special areas of human activity. Latin is used in medicine in anatomical, clinical and pharmaceutical terminology. It is the Latin language that allows doctors-representatives of different countries of the world to find a common language, collect international consultations between doctors, carry out operations, meet at conferences, easily understand each other. It is argued that in the pharmaceutical industry it is especially important to tandardize terminology and nomenclature units, otherwise it will be impossible to navigate in a large number of drugs. The article examines the Latin pharmaceutical terminology and nomenclature, borrowed and functioning in the modern English language. The author comes to the conclusion about the importance of the Latin language in Pharmaceutics. In modern English, there is a large number of borrowings from Latin, as well as the formation of terminological and nomenclature units based on Latin roots and elements denoting the names of medicinal plants and drugs, chemical elements, words equivalent to the names of drugs.
