Abstract

The article regards the communicative potency of the French newspaper L'Équipe devoted to sport as well as its representation in the Internet media space. The ultimate goal is achieved due to the application of both deductive and inductive methods of logical analysis, together with descriptive approach, lexical and semantic analysis, stylistic analysis. French nationwide daily paper L'Équipe makes the empirical data of the research. It focuses on the dynamic representation of up-to-date top-notch sport issues within the newspaper. Multimedia potency of such type of press in the framework of modern communication processes is also emphasized. The authors turn to analyzing the etymology of the title, structuring the stages of L'Équipe's development, emphasizing its typical features. The article enlists the reasons for sport discourse as an aspect of French society's life to get digitalized as long as offers a possible explanation to the necessary modernization of L'Équipe as a way to stand to competition at the digital devices information market. The findings contribute to the development of pragmalinguistics, cognitive linguistics, linguistic and cultural studies, theoretical aspects of media discourse, theory of impact in particular due to the dialogue concept of L'Équipe. The latter proves to be a fundamental feature of newspaper text while the editors being the addressees aim at satisfying the addresser's need for information regarding the sport news. The article is to be referred to by philologists, linguists, journalists both as a booster in both theoretical and empirical analysis
