SEMANTIC FEATURES OF THE RUSSIAN PREFIX “O-” AND ITS EXPRESSION IN THE PERSIAN LANGUAGE

This study is a comparative analysis of the prefix “o”, and the linguistic ways of expressing it in the Russian language. More specifically, main characteristics and the applications of the prefix “o” are analyzed in this study. In order to obtain the most reliable results, more than 600 examples of prefix “o” from the Russian-Persian dictionary of I.K. Ovchinnikov were obtained. The Persian equivalences were, then, found. Finally, a model was proposed to translate the verbs containing this prefix. The basic method used was the statistical comparative analysis. No study, to the best of researchers' knowledge, has targeted this issue in the literature. In addition, it is the first attempt to organize all values of the prefix o - in a single study.
