XVI. YÜZYILDA SERFİCE-SERFICE IN THE XVI. CENTURY

Bugün Yunanistan'ın kuzeyinde bulunan Serfice (Servia), XIV. yüzyılda Balkanlarda gerçekleşen hızlı Osmanlı fütuhâtının sonucunda,1393 yılında fethedilerek Osmanlı idari yapılanması içerisine dahil olmuştur. Rumeli'de Paşa Livası sol kol kazaları içerisinde olan Serfice ile ilgili olarak bu çalışmada Cumhurbaşkanlığı Osmanlı Arşivi'nde bulunan 433, 479 ve 720 no'lu tahrir defterlerinden elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda şehrin nüfus ve ekonomisi ele alınmıştır. Sırasıyla 1530, 1570 ve 1613 yıllarına ait bu defterler sayesinde yaklaşık 80 yıllık bir periyot dahilinde şehirdeki toplam nüfus, bu nüfusun yıllar içerisindeki değişimi, toplam nüfus içerisinde Müslüman ve Hıristiyan kesimin dağılımına irdelenmiştir. Ardından vergi kalemlerinden yola çıkarak şehir halkının ana ekonomik faaliyetleri tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak şehirdeki mesleki iş kollarının ne olduğu ortaya konularak XVI. yüzyılda Serfice şehrinin bir görünümü ortaya konulmuştur. Serfice (Servia), which is located in the north of Greece today, was conquered in 1393 and included in the Ottoman administrative structure in the XIV. century as a result of the rapid Ottoman conquest that took place in the Balkans. Regarding Serfice, which is in the left side kazas of Pasha principality in Rumeli, this study focused the population and economy of the town in line with the information obtained from tahrir registers found in the Ottoman archive with the number of 433, 479 and 720. Thanks to these registers belonging to years of 1530, 1570 and 1613, respectively, in a period of approximately 80 years, the total population in the town, the change of this population over the years, and the distribution of the Muslim and Christian sections within the total population was examined. Then, starting from the tax items, the main economic activity of the people of the town were determined. Finally, a view of the town of Serfice was revealed in the XVI. century, by determining what the professional branches of the town are.
