EFFECT OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) ON STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION AND THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AT UNIVERSITY LEVEL

Abstract
This study focused on the effect of information and communication technology (ICT) on student's motivation and their academic achievement at university level. The objectives of the study were to find out student's perceptions about knowledge, skills and usage of ICT at University Level, to know Students' motivation and their academic achievement as well as to find out the difference between the perception of male and female students about knowledge, skills and usage of ICT. Further, to find out the effect of ICT on motivation of students and academic achievement of students at university level. The descriptive survey research design was used. The population of the study comprises of all the undergraduate's students of public university of Hazara Division. A sample of 300 students, 100 from each university contained as a sample of the study. A Stratified simple random sampling technique was used. Two self-developed questionnaires were used. The tool was validated and made reliable by Cronbach Alpha on SPSS and it indicate 0.92 value of reliability which was achieved through pilot testing conducted on 50 students. The data were collected from undergraduate students. Afterwards, the data were entered in Excel and interpreted in SPSS for analysis. The major results revealed that ICT have significant effect on student's motivation and have no profound effect on academic achievement of students. It is recommended that educational institutions should introduce ICT in such a way that promotes students' academic performance. It should be strictly use for academic purposes and should banned the use of irrelevant websites
