PRIORITY AREAS FOR IMPROVING INFORMATION SECURITY IN UKRAINE

The article reveals the priority areas for improving information security of Ukraine, which are based on the National Security Strategy of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine «On National Security of Ukraine» and the Doctrine of Information Security of Ukraine. The essence and substantial characteristics of the concept of «information security» are considered. It was found that information security should be understood as: negative impact of information, negative consequences of the use of information technology, illegal dissemination and use of confidential information, violation of the integrity of confidential information, as well as incomplete and inaccurate information used. The modern problems that arise in the process of ensuring information security of Ukraine are identified. The peculiarities of information security threats of Ukraine, which are presented in the National Security Strategy of Ukraine, are studied. Specific areas of state policy in the field of improving information security of Ukraine are outlined, which are to ensure the appropriate level of rights and freedoms in the information sphere and information activities, in particular to achieve media independence and information openness of public authorities. The national interests of Ukraine in the field of information security of Ukraine, which are defined by the Doctrine of Information Security of Ukraine, are considered. The priority areas of information security in Ukraine in accordance with the provisions of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine are presented.
